Youth Cares' 4th Annual Chitrapournami Annadhaanam (Food Donation)

Good day dearest Readers !! *

On the past 25th April 2013, we, Youth Cares successfully carried out our annual food donation. Another 1500 people were served tasty vegetarian delicacy.

It was a beautiful Thursday morning and the Waterfall Murugan Temple was filled with devotees fulfilling their vows. As we always call it, the atmosphere was like a 'Mini Thaipusam' with so many people and so many "panthal" (stall).

The Youth Cares Team gathered at our very own tent at about 10.00am after our journey to the Hilltop Murugan temple. We started to set-up our tables and put-up perimeter as a countermeasure for crowd control.

The caterer arrived at 12 noon. With help of our senior YC members, we unloaded the food and put them in necessary trays and got them ready to serve.

At 12.30 sharp, we started serving happily to the crowd which immediately was formed after we announced that we have already started serving our food. The crowd was very heart-warming and all the YC members served with so much happiness and joy.

At 2.30 pm we served our final devotees and ended the event meaningfully. After serving ended, we cleaned up the place. With everybody's helping hands, we managed to clear the tent in just half-an hour.

Although everyone were very tired, we never failed to put a smile on our faces and return home with the satisfaction of being blessed to be able to serve the community once again.

The YC Team would like to place our humble gratitude to everybody who were able attend and help in the event although the event took place on a weekday.

Charity Event of 2013

Hello all fellow readers! How are you all doing? The Youth Cares members of Penang had their first charity event for the year 2013 on the 24th of February. This event is the combination for both the month of January and February.

The first charity event took place at Sunshine Cottage Home in Kulim, Kedah. As, it was YC's very second  time to this home, we were very excited to visit this home. As contribution to the home,the YC members contributed 10 hot pillows for the need of the elderly people there. The use of this hot pillow is good for joint pain, backaches as well as muscle cramp.

The YC members reached the home around 1pm as it was lunch time. The kids and the elderly people were very happy to see us and so they greeted us with happy sweet smiling faces. They were very delightful to see us with the contribution we brought for them. The caretaker of the home was happy because it has brought a great ease and satisfactory for all the elderly people over there.

Without further a do, we thought the caretaker about the procedure on how to use the hot pillows efficiently as it might burn the skin layer of their bodies if its not applied or used properly. The caretaker himself tried out the hot pillow for himself, and he was very happy because he was also having leg cramp for quite a while, after trying out the hot pillow, he found out it was very relieving .

After explaining about the hot pillows, the YC members had a bit of chit chatting with the kids and also the elderly people, they thanked us for contributing those great gadgets that is good for health. And so, the YC members thanked everybody t the home for spending their wonderful time with us without hesitating. 

As a good sunny Sunday, the YC members accomplished their first charity event of the year 2013 with blossomed happiness and great gratitude.

Year 2012 Closing Event

Hi everyone, it has been a long time since the YC members posted their monthly charity service due to studies. Very sorry for keeping all our readers waiting! As we all have survived the year 2012, we as Youth Cares Penang members did the last charity service for the year 2012 as a good closure for the year. 

The event was held on the 31st of December 2012. The home that we visited was Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Yee Ran Jing Sheh. We did visit this home in the year 2009. Now, once again, we decided to pay a visit to the home. We did not go there empty handed of course, but we also bought important and personal hygiene products for the handicapped children.

The home was the same as how it was back then but there were more handicapped children compared to 3 years ago. They were all very friendly with us that even though they did not know who were we. They all greeted us with their smile in their face even though it was quite an early morning. 

There are more things that this home needs as well, they provided us a list of things that they need for the home and for the children particularly. We went around the home taking some pictures of the home. 

Lastly, before leaving the place, we thanked the caretaker for spending time their time with us for the morning. 

Note: These are the things that are needed for the home urgently. :)
