On 25th of July, Saturday the Youth Cares members, visited an old folks home in Relau as our seventh charity visit. The name of the old folks home is Rumah Charis. The members made a move to the home at 2.15 pm. We reached the home at 2.30, just in time for their high-tea.
We bought dry foods such as biscuits, oats, horlicks and milo to be donated to the old folks home. Before giving out the food we bought, we had a little chat with the person in charge Mr.Daniel, who is also the treasurer for the home. He gave us much needed insight about the home. according to Mr.Daniel, there are a total of 29 people living at the home. A total of 16 males, 13 females and 13 volunteers are at the home.
Most of the senior citizens living there are above the age of 60 and are orphans. Which means those who stay there do not have any next of kin. The living expenses for the old folks are completely free and the home is run based on private and public donations.
Then at sharp 3.00pm, we decided to leave the home. Before taking our leave, we donated a small sum of cash to the home. We thanked Mr.Daniel for having us and went back with a sense of accomplishment.
