The Youth Cares members visited Penang Cheshire Home as the 6th charity visit on the 4th of July 2009. We went there at 2.30pm. Unfortunately, we couldn't meet the administrator, Ms. Jenny Ong because she had an off day. Therefore, we were redirected to meet the care taker of the home for that day, Mrs. Raney.

She told us about the home and the aim of the home which is to offer help and assistance to the physically and mentally handicapped. The large hall in the entrance of the home works as a dining area, reading area, television area and work area. There is also a separate work area where the handicapped will do their arts and crafts over there. Plus, there is also a physiotherapy room and dormitories which can reside up to 40 residents.

They also have a small clinic for the under privileged people. The home will only admit people between the age of 12 to 45 and that to with the recommendations of their doctors . In this homely ambiance, the residents over there learn a variety of handicrafts which are sold in the home and hospitals.
We spent much time chit-chatting with them and hearing their stories. Before we left the home, we gave our share of donations in the form of dry food to Mrs.Raney. We were very grateful and thankful to Mrs.Raney for accommodating us last minute as we were one hour late for the appointment.
